Liverpool started this season poorly and the majority of the signings Rodgers brought in over the summer have failed to impress, putting pressure on his position in charge at Merseyside.

Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid

Should Rodgers be axed then Liverpool will look to lure Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to England, a move that may well prove very tough to pull off.

44 year old Argentine Simeone is one of the best young managers in the game and having helped his side to a surprise La Liga triumph last season, as well as a run to the Champions League final, one imagines that either the former midfielder would stick with the Vicente Calderon side he has managed since 2011 or consider only moving to a side that can challenge for major honours and as such Liverpool may not be an option he’d consider.

Sacking Rodgers would seem a very harsh decision for Liverpool to be considering given the success he achieved last term and given that the major reason for their poor form this term, the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, was outside of his control such an option shouldn’t really be ‘on the table’ at this juncture.
