Several top clubs in Europe are at loggerheads for the signature of Dortmund super star, Marco Reus.
Reports says that Chelsea have emerged as favourites in the race to sign the long-standing Manchester United target Marco Reus, according to HITC sports.
The Borussia Dortmund ace has long attracted the interests of Europe’s elite clubs, after putting up a number of stunning performances for the Bundesliga outfit.
Following the sales of Mario Goetze and Robert Lewandowski, Reus has become the standout performer for Jurgen Klopp’s men, and he has ultimately become a household name in German football.
The Red half of manchester have been blatant admirers for a long time, though their ineligibility to play Champions League football has Scuppered their chances of seeing through a potential stunning deal.
Fellow German giants Bayern Munich are also said to be monitoring his situation, although recent reports point to Premier League leaders Chelsea as the most likely to do a deal.
With the 25-year-old’s team struggling for form, The Mirror reports that the Blues will look to activate his reported £20million buy-out clause and have already begun to do the necessary work behind the scenes.
“Chelsea have emerged as front-runners in the race to sign German star Marco Reus next summer," the report claims.
"The 25-year-old attacking midfielder – who has a £20million buy-out clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract – is a target for Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal.
"But Chelsea have been working hard behind the scenes to get themselves in position to make a successful bid."
The Stamford Bridge outfit have an embarrassment of attacking riches, but the possible acquisition of Reus can’t be ignored and would further enhance their position as the Premier League's number one team.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man has scored three goals and added a further two assists in seven Bundesliga appearances this season.
He is currently out of action after picking up an injury against Paderborn last month, but his return will coincide with the January transfer window and will provide the Blues with a shot of striking a deal.
